Hi Jecky,
Australia is a country with English language. If ur English is not good how can u work there? I must tell u that IELTS English is much easier to understand than the English which Australians speak.Better to improve ur English skills and apply there.English cartoons are the best source to learn English(listening skills) for beginners. Then after sometime u can watch movies n dramas to improve more.BTW,live shows n talk shows like Oprah,Dr. Phil and The Dr. are also good to understand rather than movies n dramas.U can also watch cbsnews on TV if it's available in ur country. If not then go on the website cbsnews.com.Read daily atleast one article, learn new vocabulary words.Watch the news as well. There's also one website answer.com.They've toolbar which u can install on ur computer to seek meanings for hard words at the same time.
Wish u for good luck
Australia's IELTS band level is still low than Canada i.e 6.So strive hard to get it.
One more thing,BBC has also programs for pronounciation.Go for it.
Try to attempt reading tests given in IELTS with ur present English.Record ur band.Look for the questions which u'll hv done wrong.Look and understand why have u not got the answer.Try to catch ur mistake.Day by day u'll improve ur English.
